Happy Sunday bookworms! Sunday is book tag day here on the My Endless Shelf blog and this week, in honour of the much-anticipated Shadow & Bone Netflix adaptation next week, I decided that the Grishaverse Book Tag would be the perfect choice this week! I spotted this tag on Berries and Books and it was originally created by Rebecca Books. No mourners, no funerals. Let's do this! Kaz Brekker; A book that you shouldn’t judge by the cover The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden. I don't think the UK cover, while it is very pretty, does the book justice. To me, the cover makes the book seem like a cosy winter rom-com, which it most definitely isn't. I think the US cover works a lot better for this particular book. Nina Zenik; A book that made you feel empowered To Be Honest by Maggie Ann Martin. I loved this book. It was such a body-positive story that left me with a feeling a self-acceptance that I'd been longing for, for a really long time. Inej Ghafa; A book with a good balance of character and plot A Pho Love Story by Loan Le. The characters in this book are compelling and incredibly realistic, and it has just enough plot and mysterious backstory to keep things moving along well without losing my interest. Alina Starkov; A unique book, one that is unlike anything you’ve ever read The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. Would it be a Sunday book tag if I didn't recommend this book? This book is absolutely one of a kind. It's a unique story, with original, compelling characters that leaves you with a completely warm and hopeful feeling. Mal Oretzev; A book that always sticks with you They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera. It sounds a bit morbid, I suppose, but this book will always stick with me. I loved the characters that Adam created and their story, no matter how sad, was at the same time, incredibly beautiful. The Darkling; A book with a dark plot/ story line Vicious by V.E. Schwab. The entire plot of this book is based around suicide/accidental death leading to developing super-powers, which I think is pretty dark in itself. The story is full of revenge, betrayal and loss, which makes it a pretty dark read. Jesper Fahey; A book that people always seem to leave out Can I pick two? It's my blog so yes, I guess I can. The Library of the Unwritten by A.J. Hackwith. This book was fantastic. It's written has pansexual and mental health rep, is female character led and set in a fantastic fantasy world that exists in conjunction with our reality. Amid Stars and Darkness by Chani Lynn Feener - I bloody love this book. It's the first YA sci-fi I'd ever read which, sort of, opened up the genre to me and I loved it. It's the first book in a series and features a love triangle, which actually works really, really well and it's a pretty epic space fantasy. I have no idea why more people don't talk about these two books. They are both 5-star reads for me, although completely different in terms of content. Wylan Van Eck; A book that wasn’t what it seemed at first Hour of the Bees by Lindsay Eager. I honestly didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. It was a really fantastic story full of magic and beautiful symbolism. I'd highly recommend it to everyone. Matthias Helvar; A book that was bad at first but turned out good Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. Good is debatable as I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about this one BUT it definitely turned out better than it started. Nikolai Lantsov; A witty book Leo Loves Aries by Anyta Sunday. I'm cheating a little here since I've picked witty characters, not a witty book...I think there's a difference. I love the witty back and forth between Leo and Jamie, it's what completely drew me into this book. And that's all for now!
Happy reading, enjoy the rest of your weekend, and let me know what you think of Shadow & Bone when it drops next week! As always, I tag anyone who wants to take part! Comments are closed.
