Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for one of my favourite books of all time!!
That's right - Wolfsong by TJ Klune is out NOW in the UK with a gorgeous new cover by the team at Red Nose Studios who also created the House in the Cerulean Sea and Under the Whispering Door covers. I pre-ordered the exclusive sprayed page edition of this book from Waterstones (still waiting for it to arrive ?) and Black Crow PR (who've organised this tour) kindly sent me a paperback that I'm giving away, so do check out the competition below and enter for your chance to win! I have reviewed this book before and you can check out my original review here, but keep reading as I share updated thoughts after a recent re-read of the entire Green Creek series and brace yourselves for werewolf drama, more daddy issues than you could shake a stick at, and the beginning of a saga that packs a gut punch of emotion and humour into each book.

Rep: Gay & Bisexual Series/Standalone: Green Creek #1 TW: Mental/physical child abuse, murder, grief
Ox was twelve when his daddy taught him a very valuable lesson. He said that Ox wasn’t worth anything and people would never understand him. Then he left.
Ox was sixteen when he met the boy on the road. The little boy who talked and talked and talked. Ox found out later the little boy hadn’t spoken in almost two years before that day, and that the little boy belonged to a family who had moved into the house at the end of the lane. Ox was seventeen when he found out the little boy’s secret and it painted the world around him in colors of red and orange and violet, of Alpha and Beta and Omega. Ox was twenty-three when murder came to town and tore a hole in his head and heart. The boy chased after the monster with revenge in his bloodred eyes, leaving Ox behind to pick up the pieces. It’s been three years since that fateful day—and the boy is back. Except now he’s a man, and Ox can no longer ignore the song that howls between them.
Forgive me for waxing lyrical about this book, because when I say it's one of my favourites, I really mean it. I've read it multiple times, as well as listened to the audiobook, and I don't think I'll ever get enough of Wolfsong and the entire Green Creek series.
Honestly, the only "issue" I have with Wolfsong is trying to choose between the book and the audiobook. The book is incredibly well-written and engaging. I love reading TJ Klune's words and immersing myself in his world, but at the same time, Kirt Graves does such an amazing job of bringing the characters to life with his voice, and since I heard his voice for Gordo, I can't not hear it in my head when I read that character's words. So, I'd highly recommend both the book and audiobook! I first read Wolfsong back in 2018 and instantly fell in love with Ox and the Bennett gang. Ox is a really brilliant narrator, with a unique voice unlike any other, and I just want good things for him. Then there's Joe, the little tornado who takes Ox by surprise and turns his world upside down. This book is NOT insta-love or insta-lust and it's not a fluffy rom-com. There's an age-gap between the two main characters who meet when one is still a child and the other is an older teen. A surprising friendship spanning years leads to both characters helping each other heal and grow after their traumatic pasts and eventually leads to an inevitable, yet hard-won love story. This book is filled with friendships, found-family, hilarious werewolf antics, werewolf courtship (which is just amazing) and really beautiful family and friends relationships. The side characters really bring a lot to Wolfsong, and I almost wish we could get to know all of them so much more. As well as lots of laughs and tender moments, Wolfsong is also brimming with hurt. TJ Klune puts these characters through A LOT which made my recent re-read so bittersweet but absolutely worth it. For me, Wolfsong, and the entire Green Creek series will forever be one of my favourites, and these complex, weird and wonderful characters live rent free in my brain. Overall, I'd highly recommend Wolfsong for fans of TJ Klune and for readers looking for a queer Teen Wolf style paranormal fantasy, but so much better. Also, if you enjoy bookish podcasts, you'll often hear me raving about Wolfsong and other TJ Klune books on the Turn The Page podcast so feel free to check it out.
