Hi!
Welcome to My Endless Shelf - thanks for stopping by! Here's a little about me and why I've decided to venture into book blogging! I've been mad about books as far back as I can remember, but the first time I can recall truly falling in love with a good book was when I was around 6 years old. My grandparents had a box of books they kept in the attic - do not ask me why they're not out in the house, over 20 years later and I still have no idea. To this day that poor box of books has yet to be rescued from the dusty loft - I've tried to free it but to no avail, I'm still convinced there's some sort of magic curse I need to break. Anyway, one day, I decided that I wanted to play libraries and so my granddad retrieved this box of wonders for me to explore. I can't remember every book out of the 20-30 or so books in the box but I can remember a few include copies of Around the World in 80 Days and The Last of the Mohicans published in 1972. However, the two books that I remember the most are a very old copy of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and a 1970 publication of Lyrico by Elizabeth Foster. Those two books were my gateway into the world of fantasy fiction and I have NEVER EVER looked back. (Side note: I managed to liberate Lyrico, Around the World in 80 Days and The Last of the Mohicans, sadly The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is still waiting to be freed from it's dusty isolation). As soon as I'd finished with the box of wonders, I dragged my granddad to the local library for a library card (and special access to the YA section, which I was most happy about) and practically lived there for the rest of my childhood. The day they increased the loan limit from 8 to 20 books at a time I may have shed a happy tear, although it could have been from the pain of throwing my back out with all the extra weight. I read every spare moment I had growing up, often reading under desks in class; which is where I discovered both The Hobbit and Harry Potter. I've also been an avid writer for most of that time, I remember writing my own version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix before it was released where Harry and Sirius lived together in a nice house and were just happy and ALIVE!! Most of my stories back then featured a great many talking animals, one was a spin on Bedknobs and Broomsticks whilst the other involved a little girl finding an amulet which gave her the ability to talk to animals (I think someone at Disney broke into my diary for that one - Princess Sofia the First!!) Right now, I'm working on a few different projects but balancing running my business (because money buys books!) and raising my crazy, free-spirited wild child, I'm yet to actually finish one but fingers crossed! I'll read almost anything fiction but I have an unquenchable thirst for fantasy, romance and YA. Which, I suppose, brings me to this blog. I'll be sharing reviews, thoughts and anything else book-related that I can think of and I'm hoping you'll join me! If you want to connect, you can find me on Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and Goodreads or use the Contact Me page! Comments are closed.
