Okay, so I felt like I'd had a much better reading month in July than I did in June, but according to my reading journal, that isn't the case. I read a grand total of 3 books this month, started 1, and also finished 1 that I've been reading with my daughter. It's been a mixed month with 1 really standout book and the other two, not so much. As always, just click on the book title to head over to my full review, if there is one. Flash Fire by TJ Klune - I've been looking forward to this book ever since I finished The Extraordinaries last year. The cliffhanger kept me hanging on until Flash Fire arrived in my inbox (gratefully received as an eARC from TorTeen) and I loved every minute of it. Nicky was just as fantastic as I'd remembered and I loved coming back to this world of hope, positivity and superheroes. Rainbow Grey by Laura Ellen Anderson - This is a book I read with my 7 year old this month. We usually read a chapter or two a day and we thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was slightly reminiscent in places to The Weather Weaver by Tamsin Mori, which we read last month and also loved. This book was funny, diverse and full of bravery, magic, hope and friendship. Great for fans of My Little Pony and magical friendship stories. When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting - This was an eARC I was lucky to receive from St. Martin's Press but unfortunately, it's just didn't really resonate with me. It was too heavy for me personally, compared to what I usually look for in a rom-com novel. I also had some issues with the chemistry between the two characters so sadly this wasn't a very impactful read for me this month. The Best Man by L.A. Witt - Again, this one was a much heavier read than I would typically choose when looking for romance. While I felt the characters were great and the chemistry between the two was very much there, the domestic abuse/stalker aspect of this novel made it more of a suspenseful read that I just wasn't looking for at the time. Not a bad read at all, just unexpected. I also started reading The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni in July. Full review for that to follow.
That's all for my now! What did you read last month? Happy Reading! Comments are closed.
