Happy Tuesday! How's June treating you so far? The #TopTenTuesday meme is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl and this week's theme is 'Books I Decided to DNF (did not finish) too Quickly'. I always try my hardest to read a book to the very end, but sometimes my head isn't in the right place for a particular book. It could be that I'm not in the mood for that particular genre, I've read too many similar books/tropes etc recently or occasionally, it's just not a book for me. Here are some of the books that I've started but intend to come back to eventually. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff - This is a big one for me. I've started this book 3 times and only made it to chapter two. What's strange is that it has absolutely nothing to do with the book itself, I just kept getting distracted by other things and forgetting about it. The Sin Eater's Daughter by Melinda Salisbury - I don't feel as though I gave this book enough of a chance. I was really put off by the main character, at the time she seemed really dull, self-obsessed and somewhat dim, I also got sick and tired of the constant praying. But, I stopped reading at around 27% and probably should have waited to see if things improved. Sister, Sister by Sue Fortin - I think the main reason I stopped reading this was because it's not my typical genre. I struggle a little with getting into Thrillers as I don't particular like the darker subject matter found in most. However, my sister still won't stop raving about how good this book is and so I feel like I should give it another chance. The Soul Mate by Kendall Ryan - I love Kendall Ryan, and have enjoyed every other book in this contemporary romance series, but for some reason, I really struggled getting into The Soul Mate. Fingers crossed I'll do better on the second try! Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid - Sadly, I barely remember this book at all. Aside from thinking that it was too long and I stopped reading at 50%. Maybe I should try again.... Allegiant (Divergent #4) by Veronica Roth - I got all the way to 74% when I stopped reading this book. I just hit a wall and completely lost interest and so I have no idea how the series ends. I'll probably give it another shot at some point to try and wrap it up. The Sky Beneath by Jason Warne - This story started off really well, I just had a slight problem with pacing at the time which was the main reason I chose to stop reading. But, I'm still left with lots of questions so I'll try to revisit it soon.
Stay by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy - I have no idea why I stopped reading this at 64%, but I do remember really enjoying it at the beginning. It was strange to finally read it book that featured my job (even if it was an exaggerated version of it). I'm going to have to try to finish this one. Eye Candy by Multiple Authors - I bought this book solely for Tara Sivec's contribution, The Pumpkin Was Stuffed, which I really enjoyed. However, I'd really like to read the others and hopefully can go back to it at some point. Tempting Alibi by Savannah Stuart - I was not in a good head space when trying to read this book and so I put it down without really giving it a chance. I'm determined to give it another try! Have you read any of my choices for this week's #TopTenTuesday? Which would you suggest that I try again? Don't forget to leave your post links in the comments!

You should really give Nevernight a chance it has a unique writing style but once you get used to it the story is phenomenal. 5/6/2018 15:50:31
Thanks Viki :) I do really want to read Nevernight - I think the most frustrating thing for me is that I did really enjoy the two chapters I read, I was just distracted by other things at the time lol I am determined to read it though!

I also try very hard to finish books, but, like you, sometimes I'm just not in the mood for a certain book or genre. At those times, I just set the book aside and go back to it later. Exactly! Sometimes you're just not ready for a particular book and it can be even better coming back to it later :) I'm not going to lie, I had the same issue with The Soul Mate. I love Kendall Ryan but I struggled with that one. I feel you 100% on Allegiant. It was the worst of the Divergent trilogy and I am always so surprised that I finished it. I hope that if and when you come back to any of these books you enjoy them! 7/6/2018 17:24:44
I love her too! I was so sad that I struggled with this one but hoping I can give it another shot. Haha, I'm glad it wasn't just me who had a hard time with it, although maybe that's why they never made the final film instalment too! Thank you :)

I definitely think you should finish Sister sister at some point, there’s so much going on and lots to unravel, I literally read this in a day, I just couldn’t put it down, but saying that i do like a mixture between thrillers (nothing too scary though) and fantasy/ adventure:) 14/6/2018 19:02:55
Haha, I should have known you'd comment on this one! I promise I'll give it another shot lol Comments are closed.
